The holidays are upon us and my son Max isn’t the only one feeling extra excited these days! Perhaps being “crazy about Christmas” is something I’ve unknowingly passed on to him... but really, who can resist the magic of the holidays?! 

In our house, Christmas gets going early November, as soon as I pull out the first box of festive decor. (What’s that saying, again? “The first step is admitting the problem”?) Next come the holiday tunes (*cue Michael Bublé’s Christmas album*), the baking, the full schedule of get-togethers with friends and family, the cocktails, the gift-giving... But some of my absolute favourite traditions began after becoming a mom. 

Every year since Max was born, my husband Rej and I have been doing family holiday photos with our good friend Rosie. We’ll usually head to Shelmerdine's first for photos with Santa, and then what starts out as an innocent photo shoot, often ends with us chasing Max around, hoping he’ll stay still long enough to get a great shot. Thankfully, Rosie is a true pro and can turn any bit of chaos into something beautiful. Another fun thing we’ve introduced is heading to Anthropologie, as a family, and each picking out a new Christmas ornament. I always laugh at the goofy ones my guys manage to find, while I tend to pick out the slightly more whimsical ones. I just love how different they all are and how they add so much character to our tree! The spirit of Christmas fills my heart with so much joy, and while I thought I couldn’t love this time of year any more than I already do, being able to see it now through my son’s eyes, adds another element of excitement I never dreamed possible.
